Understanding the Two Key Measurements
When requesting a quote, we will ask for two important measurements: Brick Height and Brick Width.
- These measurements represent the actual masonry opening in your wall where the door will be installed.
- Brick Height refers to the vertical measurement of the opening.
- Brick Width refers to the horizontal measurement from one side of the brick opening to the other.
Providing these measurements helps us estimate the size of the door system and prepare an accurate quote for your project.

| A BRICK HEIGHT | The vertical distance from the top of the brick opening down to finished floor level. This is measured on the inside face of the wall, from the underside of the lintel (the header brick or beam above your door) straight down to the floor or threshold. |
| B BRICK WIDTH | The horizontal distance across the brick opening, measured from the inner face of the left brick to the inner face of the right brick. Again, measure the opening in the masonry wall — not the width of the door or its frame. |
What Units Should You Use?
- Inches are the most used unit for door measurements.
- Just be sure to use the same unit consistently and clearly indicate which unit you are using.
- Example: Brick Height – 82½″ | Brick Width – 63¾″ (inches).
